Barback

The Barback is responsible for providing exceptional experiences for The Battery’s members and guests through warm, intuitive, and personalized service. The team member must be able to perform technically sound service backed by beverage and food knowledge, and have the ability to anticipate needs, tailor their service style, and show a genuine sense of graciousness and hospitality to truly make The Battery feel like a home away from home for our members and guests. This staff member represents The Battery’s service team to our guests through their ability to expertly perform the essential job functions listed in this document, as well as The Battery’s steps of service, as outlined in the service manual. Barbacks must actively embody The Battery’s standards while in the workplace, both in interaction with fellow service team members, kitchen staff, guests, and management. All work related duties are to be done onsite.

Prerequisites include:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a high school education or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years of barbacking experience in an upscale casual or fine dining atmosphere preferred; some floor service experience preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English comprehensively.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Must be able to deal with guests in a professional manner while maintaining a composed demeanor in high stress situations.
Job responsibilities include:
  • Greet guests promptly and provide water service.
  • Working knowledge of spirits, beer, wine, and classic cocktails.
  • Communicate constantly with bartenders and service team on the floor.
  • Prepare ice and all garnishes to properly set up one or more bars and restock during service.
  • Restock bar with beer, liquor, wine, glassware, and juice always using proper product rotation.
  • Check functionality, quality, and fill level of kegs before and during service.
  • Collect, wash, polish and restock glassware.
  • May be required to work in multiple outlets of the hotel on the same shift.
  • Articulately describe food and beverage programs in other outlets of the property.
  • Ongoing cleaning and maintenance of workstation(s) according to established restaurant procedures. This includes pre-shift, post-shift, daily, weekly, and monthly duties as assigned by management.
  • Must have a working knowledge of menu items, food preparation techniques, and culinary terminology.
  • With guidance of floor managers and F&B directors, may be asked to train new bar staff.
  • May be responsible for correct transferring of checks when necessary.
  • Responsible for adherence to posted work schedule and arrival time. Must follow established procedures for schedule changes and arrival time. Schedule may include participation in private dining room events and/or off premise catering events.

Bartender

We are seeking Bartenders who will have a hand in providing exceptional beverage experiences for The Battery’s members and guests through warm, intuitive, and personalized service. This team member must be able to perform technically sound service backed by comprehensive beverage and food knowledge, and have the ability to anticipate needs, tailor their service style, and show a genuine sense of graciousness and hospitality to truly make The Battery feel like a home away from home for our members and guests.

Prerequisites include:
  • Bartenders must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a high school education or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years of experience in a similar establishment required.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English comprehensively.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Must hold a valid food safety card.
  • Must hold a valid alcohol "RBS" training certificate.
Job responsibilities include:
  • Extensive knowledge of spirits, beer, wine, and classic cocktails.
  • Quickly and consistently execute drinks; classic and craft cocktails.
  • Accurately take food and drink orders.
  • Have detailed knowledge of our wine and spirits selection, including technical and service aspects.

Houseman

  • A minimum of three years as houseman or similar experience required.
  • Luxury hospitality property experience preferred.

Job responsibilities include:
  • Check in and out with banquet manager upon arrival and departure.
  • Set all rooms according to BEO.
  • When setting the rooms; all linens must be clean and free of holes, all tables must be level and in good condition, ensure all table legs are locked, all linens are the proper size, tables are properly spaces and are identical to each other.
  • Deliver client boxes to their proper event room.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the banquet rooms and linens throughout the function.
  • Set up and maintain The Study when there are events with minimal food & beverage requirements.
  • Inventory and stock supplies including non-alcoholic beverages, operating supplies, smallwares, and linens.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all private event spaces: clean mirrors & glass, vacuum & mop all floors, spot clean carpets as needed, and alert private event manager when any area needs extra attention from housekeeping or engineering.
  • Organize & maintain the cleanliness of the back of the house & storage spaces.
  • Break down empty boxes.
  • Throw away all flowers and take vases to the private event storage room.
  • Bring all dirty linens down to laundry at the end of your shift.
  • Vacuum managers' office as needed.
  • Move all furniture with care and insure they do not get damaged and or scratch the floors.

PM Line Cook

We are seeking Line Cooks who will have a hand in providing exceptional dining experiences for The Battery’s members and guests . This team member must be able to perform technically sound service backed by comprehensive food knowledge to truly make The Battery feel like a home away from home for our members and guests.

Prerequisites include:
  • Culinary School Degree or Apprenticeship Certification strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of culinary experience in a fast paced kitchen as a line cook.
  • Luxury hospitality property experience preferred.
  • Must hold a valid food handlers certification.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English comprehensively.
Job responsibilities include:
  • Perform many basic tasks of food preparation and organization in the kitchen.
  • Produce menu items for service, maintaining the highest standards to achieve the correct quality, appearance, and portion size.

PM Prep/Overnight Cook

We are seeking Line Cooks who will have a hand in providing exceptional dining experiences for The Battery’s members and guests . This team member must be able to perform technically sound service backed by comprehensive food knowledge to truly make The Battery feel like a home away from home for our members and guests. We are seeking a PM/Overnight Cook with proven ability to excel during these hours. General work hours for the PM Prep/Overnight Cook are from 11:;00 p.m. -7:00 a,m. Candidates must be motivated self-starters with thoughtful communication skills, excellent team commitment and possess a strong degree of reliability and confidence.

Prerequisites include:
  • Culinary School Degree or Apprenticeship Certification.
  • A minimum of three years of culinary experience in a fine dining kitchen.
  • Luxury hospitality property experience preferred.
  • Must hold a valid food handlers certification.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English comprehensively.
Job responsibilities include:
  • Overnight prepping for service.
  • Cooking for in-room dining.
  • Practice of proper food storage and handling skills.

Prep Cook

We are looking for Prep Cooks who will have a hand in providing exceptional dining experiences for The Battery’s members and guests . This team member must be able to perform technically sound service backed by comprehensive food knowledge to truly make The Battery feel like a home away from home for our members and guests.

Prerequisites include:
  • Culinary School Degree or Apprenticeship Certification strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of culinary experience in a fast paced kitchen.
  • Luxury hospitality property experience preferred.
  • Must hold a valid food handlers certification.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English comprehensively.
Job responsibilities include:
  • Perform many basic tasks of food preparation and organization in the kitchen.
  • Coordinate with Executive Chef’s physical inventory needs and prep lists in designated locations and stations.
  • Properly store daily deliveries and foods in designated areas following wrapping, dating, and rotation procedures.
  • Clean designated work areas, equipment and utensils during shift and in set-up and clean down procedures.

Security Associate (Swing Shift: 2:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.)

We are looking for a Security Associate with exceptional Member and Guest services skills, a professional demeanor, and strong attention to detail and problem solving skills. This individual must be able to work swing shift (2:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.) and full-time. Having luxury hospitality experience is preferred, but not required.

Prerequisites include:
  • Ability to work a flexible weekly schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to read and communicate effectively verbally and in writing within the English language
  • Clear, detail-oriented report writing capability
  • Must be able to communicate with diverse and outgoing personalities
  • Possess basic computer skills and knowledge
  • Must be friendly, courteous and enjoy working with people
  • Proven track record of reliability and punctuality
  • AA degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in security, preferably within the hospitality industry
  • Must possess a current and valid California Security Guard Card
  • Copies of all required CA BSIS training certificates
  • Possess a current First Aid/CPR/AED certification
Job responsibilities include:
  • Observe and report all suspicious or unusual activity on or around the property
  • Conduct basic interior and exterior foot patrols to prevent theft, vandalism, maintenance issues or fire
  • Respond to all medical, fire or security emergencies and other calls for service
  • Assist other departments in the discharge of their duties as necessary
  • Secure or unlock areas as needed
  • Perform administrative duties such as maintaining incident reports, report writing, daily shift logs, audits, etc

Prerequisites include:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a high school education or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years of upscale casual or fine dining experienced required.
  • Must be able to perform server and bus person’s duties.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English comprehensively.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Must wear proper uniform and be able to deal with guests in a professional manner while maintaining a composed demeanor in high stress situations.
Job responsibilities include:
  • Greet guests, accurately take food and drink order and enter it into the POS.
  • Have detailed knowledge of our wine and spirits selection, including technical and service aspects of each.
  • Articulately describe all menu items, including daily additions to the menu.
  • Adhere to established accounting procedures for all transactions and accurately close checks of any tender.
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of menu items, food preparation techniques, and culinary terminology.
  • With the guidance of Floor Managers and F&B Directors, may be asked to train new service staff.
  • Required to attend mandatory meetings when scheduled.
