About Chris Lux

Chris Lux’s current practice—which takes the form of painting and sculpture—investigates the history of objects, specific time periods and people, while simultaneously reflecting on his own history as an artist. A predetermined structure of influence allows him to find his own voice reflected in the choices, failures and materials throughout the production of the work. This creates multilayered work that embraces the past, as well as demonstrates the impossibility of inhabiting what has come before. Chris Lux has shown extensively in the United States and Europe; including Gallery V1 in Copenhagen, M.A.M.A in Rotterdam, Jupiter Woods in London, and Stussy in Tokyo; Jancar Jones, New Image and 356 Mission in Los Angeles; Interstate Projects, Auto Body, Nicelle Beauchene, and Muddguts in New York; as well as Et Al, Popular Workshop and Luggage Store in San Francisco. His work was part of the Oakland Museum of California/SFMOMA exhibition: Fertile Ground. He is a graduate of San Francisco Art Institute.
